Waikiki Beach Hostel - Hawaii USA
The first time I’d travelled completely alone with no one by my side or even with a company was when I visited Hawaii.
I was greeted by the team on arrival who were very friendly and helpful. I had to pay a small deposit of $30 for the room key which unfortunately I forgot to give back in my hurry to the airport however they were pretty understanding and gave it back. Once I was handed my keys to the 8 bed female dorm I met the girls inside who were lovely and a variety of people from all different parts of the world.
The place itself is located 30 minutes from the airport with regular bus services running. It’s very central to some great beaches in which you can surf it up in some of the best waves in the world.
Each dormitory has a shared bathroom between all the people staying there and although the rooms are basic, it’s just somewhere to sleep. Just like most hostels there is a social area for all guests to mix, mingle and meet new people.
Laundry services are available and you can purchase detergent from reception but it’s always worth bringing a small bag of it from home to save money.
All in all I think Waikiki beach hostel is such a good price for the location and is in a generally safe area for young people wanting to travel.
